Welcome to my folklore Website. Since the late 1950s I have studied
and taught folk dances, mainly from Southeast Europe, visiting
remote villages, learning songs and costumes and customs too.
The World-Wide Web is my latest way to share what I know. Some
things here you can buy, some are yours for the asking.
The Balkans, Bulgaria, Croatia, the East Mediterranean,
Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Thrace -- these and other folklore names
overlap. Many ethnic groups may live in one area. Ethnic regions
may cross political boundaries.
We who are enthusiasts have to do the best we
can. This part of the world rewards us with wonderful rhythms and
dance forms, among other adventures.
As my site gets built I will add more to it. I am probably best
known for the Balkans, but I have danced with Assyrians, my heart
has a soft spot for Bavaria, and I have won prizes with Cheyenne and
Crow Indian dances of the United States. Keep checking from time to
time.
